ROOF INSTALLATION

New Roof Installations

To select the right roofing contractor, it is vital to have a clear understanding of the basic steps involved in roof installation.

1.

Removal of Your Existing Roof

When The Roof Specialists replace a roof, they remove the old roofing materials and any damaged decking.

2.

Installation, Replacement, or Inspection of the Roof Decking

After removing the old roof, we evaluate the existing decking and either install new decking or replace the old one. The roof decking is a foundation for the roofing materials. It is positioned below the ice and water barrier and provides a structural base for attaching the roofing materials.

Our team of roof specialists will carefully inspect the decking to ensure that there is no structural damage or rotting wood. In case of structural damage or wood rot, replacing the decking before reinstalling the water barrier and other roofing materials is crucial.

3.

Installation of the Ice & Water Barrier & Underlayment

After confirming the strength of the decking, the installation process begins with the Ice & Water Barrier. The Ice & Water Barrier protects the decking against water, which can potentially cause water damage or rot. The Ice and Water Barrier is an underlayment that sticks to your roof’s decking. The underlayment is nailed down after the adhesive water barrier is applied to ensure weather tightness.

4.

Installation of the Drip Edge

We will place the metal drip edge at the bottom edge of your roof, on top of the ice and water barrier. To secure the drip edge, we nail it flat against the edge of your roof. This will prevent water from flowing over the edges and underneath the underlayment.

Once the underlayment is installed, another layer of drip edge is nailed on top to prevent water from running over the edges and underneath the underlayment.

5.

Installation of the Synthetic Underlayment

Synthetic underlayment products are more durable and reliable than cheaper felt alternatives. To ensure quality roofing, Austin Roof Specialists incorporates Synthetic Underlayment in all roof replacements or installations.

For homeowners or commercial property owners looking to ensure the structural integrity of their property and extend the lifespan of their new roof, synthetic underlayment is the optimal and durable choice.

We roll it out along the roof’s edge to properly install the underlayment. Then, we use roofing nails to attach them, placing them above the drip edge rather than through it. To prevent water from seeping under the underlayment, we ensure that each row of underlayment overlaps by a minimum of six inches.

Metal Roofing Installation

To ensure that each metal roofing panel overlaps correctly, we take great care in measuring and marking their placement before installation. After identifying the appropriate position for the metal panels, we fasten them to your roof using screws.

To prevent running water from traveling under the metal panels, we use screws specifically designed for metal roofing that come with rubber washers. The ridges are secured using these specific screws. After placing and securing the metal roofing panels, it’s necessary to install ridge vents and insulate them with a waterproof sealant to cover the roof’s ridges.

The metal roof is installed after sealing the ridge caps and securing them onto the ducts. You and your loved ones can now relax and enjoy the safety and comfort of your brand-new roof. Roofing installation is a complex and risky task that should only be attempted by someone with experience. For your safety, please get in touch with us. We assure you that we will properly install your roof and ensure it meets all specifications.

Asphalt Shingles Roof Installation

Regarding roofing materials for residential homes, asphalt shingle is the top choice. Installing asphalt shingles is more straightforward than other roofing materials like tile roofing. It is risky for an inexperienced DIY enthusiast to install any roofing material. It is advisable to get in touch with a professional roofing contractor.
